Sound familiar?
Lakefront ground drops hard toward the water, and gravel on those grades simply will not stay where you put it.
- Pulling a boat trailer up the drive spins your tires and flings rock into the yard.
- Every thunderstorm carves channels down the slope and dumps stone along the shoreline.
- Weekend guests circle a dusty, potholed lot hunting for a level place to park.
Local conditions
Coves, bluffs and karst along the Osage
Camden County holds a large share of the shoreline of Lake of the Ozarks, the reservoir that formed when Bagnell Dam backed up the Osage River. That shoreline twists into countless coves, so many lots sit on steep, rocky slopes. The ground is dolomite and limestone under thin, cherty soil, and it is full of caves, sinkholes and springs, like the ones at Ha Ha Tonka State Park. Summer brings heavy thunderstorms, and winter brings freeze and thaw. Water moves fast on these slopes, which is hard on any loose surface.
What we see most in Camden County
Steep Drive Washouts
Gravel drives on lake slopes lose stone every time it storms. The bare spots get steeper and rougher each year.
Trailer Tire Spin
Hauling a boat up a loose grade spins tires and digs holes. Those holes fill with water and grow.
Crowded Rental Parking
Rentals and resorts often need more parking than their lots were built for. Cars spill onto soft edges and tear them up.
Aging Resort Asphalt
Older lots near the busy strips have cracked and faded after years of sun. Patching only goes so far before a new surface is needed.
The solution
Lake Property Surfaces That Hold the Slope
We know the lake is where you go to unwind, and fighting your own driveway is the last thing you want there.
Maybe your place sits down a winding Lake Road off US 54, or you manage rentals where the parking never stays level. You have raked rock back up the hill more times than you can count. It is time for a surface that stays where it belongs.
Trident Roads is family owned and operated, with 15 years spent on asphalt paving and chip seal. We come up from Southwest Missouri for the free on-site estimate, give you a plain answer on what will work, and back the finished job with a 1 year warranty.
We will give your lake property a drive and a lot that handle both the grade and the summer crowds.

What you get
Grip on Steep Grades
Asphalt or chip seal matched to the slope
Some lake drives call for smooth asphalt, others for the extra bite of chip seal. We choose based on your grade and how you use it.
Runoff Under Control
A surface shaped to move water
Storm water gets sent where it should go instead of racing down your drive. The drive stays in one piece, and less gravel ends up near the dock.
Parking Guests Notice
Fresh asphalt for rental and resort lots
A clean lot helps a rental stand out from the one next door. It also gives guests a level spot to unload coolers and gear.

Our recommendation
For steep lake drives, we look at the grade first: smooth asphalt works on many, while chip seal can give better grip on the steepest climbs. Resort, condo and rental lots are usually best paved with asphalt for a clean, level place to park. Long wooded roads back from the water are often a good fit for chip seal.

FAQ
Camden County questions
Still have questions? Call (816) 375-1940. We pick up.
Can you pave a steep drive down to my dock?+
Many steep lake drives can be paved, but the grade, the curves and the soil all matter. Sometimes chip seal is the better pick for traction. We will look at your drive and tell you honestly what we think will last.
Do you work on Lake Roads around Osage Beach?+
Yes, private drives and lots off the numbered Lake Roads are a big part of lake area work. Narrow roads and tight turns can affect how we get equipment in, so we check access at the free estimate.
When is the best time to pave a rental property here?+
Many owners like to do it outside the busy summer weeks so guests are not bothered. We work Monday through Friday and can talk timing at the estimate. We will not promise a date before we see the job.
Why does my gravel keep ending up near the water?+
Lake lots slope toward the shore, and rain carries loose rock downhill with every storm. A sealed surface with the right slope keeps the gravel from moving. It also means a lot less raking for you.
Is the ground near Ha Ha Tonka too rocky to pave?+
Rocky ground is common around Camdenton, with dolomite close to the surface. Rock under a drive can make a firm base, but it needs to be shaped well first. We take a close look during our visit.
