- Grippy Lake Drives
- No Hillside Washouts
- Easy Boat Hauling
Sound familiar?
Hills, chert and heavy runoff tear up gravel drives around here every season.
- Rain cuts gullies straight down the middle of sloped lake lot drives.
- Pulling a boat trailer up a loose grade means spinning tires and flying rock.
- Sharp chert works up through the gravel and chews at your tires.
Local conditions
Where the prairie meets the Ozark hills
Cedar County is a meeting point. The west side, out toward El Dorado Springs, rolls like prairie with deeper, clay-rich soils, while the east side breaks into rocky Ozark hills and hollows. The Sac River runs north through the county, and Stockton Lake spreads across the southeast with long arms and steep shorelines. Near the lake, the soil is thin and full of chert over limestone, so slopes drain fast but wash easily. Storms in spring and early summer can drop a lot of rain in a hurry, and winters bring enough freeze and thaw to loosen any rock that is not locked in.
What we see most in Cedar County
Washouts on sloped drives
Lake lots often drop steeply toward the water, and loose rock runs downhill with every storm. A bound surface with a shaped edge keeps the drive in place.
Trailer traction
Boat and camper trailers need grip on a climb. Chip seal gives a textured surface that helps tires bite.
Chert in the base
The local rock is hard and sharp, and it makes a lumpy base if it is not graded out. We work it down or cap it before the surface goes on.
Campground wear
Campgrounds and RV parks near the water see heavy use on summer weekends. Loops and pads need a firm base to keep from rutting.
The solution
Made for Hills and Lake Runoff
We know a steep drive can turn every storm into a cleanup job.
You came to the lake to relax, not to rake gravel back uphill. Maybe you have watched a trailer spin on the grade or found your rock in the yard below. It takes the fun right out of a weekend.
We are a family owned and operated company with 15 years in asphalt paving and chip seal. We walk the slope with you for free, see where the water runs, and plan the surface and edges to handle it. Every job is covered by a one year warranty.
We will build your drive to hold its ground through the wet seasons.

Our recommendation
For steep lake lot drives and campground roads, chip seal is often the better choice because its texture gives trailers and tires grip on a climb. For flatter home drives in town or on the prairie side of the county, asphalt paving gives a smooth, clean finish that is easy to live with. On hills, we focus on water control first, since runoff is what does the damage here.

FAQ
Cedar County questions
Still have questions? Call (816) 375-1940. We pick up.
Can you pave a steep drive down to a lot on Stockton Lake?+
Usually, yes. Steep grades need careful drainage and a well packed base so the surface does not slide or wash. On very steep lots we often suggest chip seal for the extra grip. We will look at your exact slope during the free estimate.
Will chip seal hold up to boat trailer traffic?+
Chip seal handles trailers well and gives better traction on a climb than a slick surface. Tight, sharp turns can scuff it, so we plan turnaround areas with that in mind. Most lake owners find it a good fit.
Do you work around El Dorado Springs and Jerico Springs?+
Yes, we serve the whole county, including the prairie side to the west and the hill roads near Caplinger Mills. Give us a call on a weekday to set up a visit.
What about all the chert rock in my yard?+
Chert is common here and very hard, which can leave a lumpy base. We grade it out or cover it with a packed base layer before the surface goes down. It is part of the prep we plan at the estimate.
Can you do campground or RV park roads near the lake?+
We can. Campground loops, RV pads and entry roads are a regular kind of job for us. We plan for weekend traffic and trailer turns, and since we work weekdays, the park is usually quieter while we are there.
